Don't be a dick.
Seriously. I’m a person with human feelings. Please treat me like one.
Don’t expect free work.
We can all agree stereotypes are bad yeah? Then please don’t let me turn into a poor arts student.
Remember, I actually do know my shit!
Believe it or not, a LOT of work goes into coming up with simple designs. I know what I’m doing. I’ve spent a lot of time being trained in design. Where you ask? CATC Design School and Billy Blue College of Design.
Just coz you paid for it, doesn’t mean you own it.
Please take the time to read up on the specific contract provided to you in your Estimate or Quote. If you have any issues with it let me know. We can discuss alterations.
Love and Client Work is a two way street.
Just like you are welcome to walk away from this project (please be aware there is a cancellation fee), I too have the right to step away for the job if I see nessacary.
Meet your deadlines. Or I’ll be dead.
Seriously, I have bills to pay and groceries to shop for. Your payment is my income. If you don’t meet payment deadlines you’ll incur an additional fee and artwork will be withheld.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T my rates!
Believe it or not, a lot goes into my calculation of rates. Your job estimate and invoice should include a detailed breakdown of costs. This is my living, my income, my LIFE. I’m passionate about my work and do not rip people off. If you think I charge an unfair rate, please feel free email me to discuss it, or look for another designer.
Talk professionally to me.
I’m young, I might accidentally call you dude. I’m real approachable and certainly won’t address you as sir or ma’am. This is who I am personally. But what I will alwaystalk to you professionally and respectfully about business. I expect the same in return.
This is why I need Feminism.
Following on from rule 8. I hate that I have to write this. Yes I’m a woman. Yes I’m in design. No you may not flirt with me. No you may not discuss anything of a sexual manner or anything inappropriate with me. This will result in an immediate termination of your contract and job. Business is business. Keep it this way.
